Join us in reading Letters to Palestine
Hi all,
We’re beginning this reading group again through 2024 in hopes that intentional study, learning and gathering will fortify how we show up in expansive solidarity, and towards seeding and growing abolitionist futures.
In January and February, we will read Letters to Palestine, a compilation of writers — both Palestinian/Palestinian-American and others in solidarity — who authored essays, journal entries and poems in response to the 2014 Israeli bombing and ground invasion on Gaza. The testimony, histories and experiences shared in the anthology are not only deeply informative and acutely relevant to today, but also serve as an example on solidarity in action.
We will virtually gather on Wednesday, January 24th at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT for conversation about the book and to share out select calls to action and ways to connect with organizing for a free Palestine. We will send focus chapters/passages and information on how to register for the Zoom closer to the 24th, and will meet again in February to discuss the book once we’ve finished it.
Verso sells the book directly but has advised it ships 5-7 days after ordering. However, a free e-book download is included with purchase! So you can start today with the text. If the cost of the book is prohibitive please write us and we will work to figure something out.
As a framing, we created this book club to call in Asian and Pacific Islander folks to engage, learn, reflect and connect. We welcome all people of color to join our virtual gatherings if they would like. We encourage white folks to read along with us but to organize their own virtual gatherings.
Feel free to opt out of this email list if this is no longer of interest to you, and also feel free to spread the word to those you think would like to follow along by forwarding this email and asking people to subscribe — we also just started an Instagram to make sharing easier, follow us there if you’d like! You are welcome to keep subscribed even if you can’t or don’t want to attend the virtual gatherings - our hope is to spark collective learning no matter how you wish to show up.
With love and in solidarity,
